Black Box Technologies Carputer Systems are a mere 11" x 11.5" x 2.5":

Black Box carputers are embedded with an IC controller that starts your carputer when your car starts.  Your carputer stays on when you turn off your car.  If you do not re-enter your car for 45 minutes, then it safely shuts itself down.  If you do re-enter your car, then the timer is reset.  The carputer is made for anyone to install.  If you have basic car stereo and computer knowledge, then installation is fairly easy.  If not, any stereo shop could do it for you.  The Black Box Carputer wires in just like an amplifier: power, ground, and ignition.  They also feature a 45 second amplifier and monitor delay so you never hear your speakers pop or see the computer boot.  All of your important software can be made to start automatically when your carputer starts.    They also have USB 2.0 and Firewire support, s-video output for rear screens, 5 channel audio for DVD, MPEG2/DVD hardware decoding, and a built in ethernet network card.  40GB hard drives are standard, along with 256MB DDR Ram, and a 1GHZ EPIA mini motherboard.  The carputer is almost inaudible.

Your carputer will come preloaded with touch screen software for music, videos, gps, dvd, and tv.  Also included will be a keyboard emulator.  All of your software will function using the RF (no line of sight) remote.  Instructions for all of the software are included.  You can easily copy hundreds of CDs to your carputer's hard drive with it's software.  Over 5000 songs  will fit on the standard hard drive.  Imagine a 5000 song changer on random play.  Who needs the radio?!  Once CDs are on your carputer, they are not needed.  This process takes approximately 15 minutes per cd.  Your carputer will also be equipped to play hundreds of  music videos on random play.

Black Box Carputers all include a 7" Touch Screen VGA monitor.  This is the brightest and most user friendly screen on the market at this time.  They can be made to fit in a double din space with little or no modification.

The DVD-ROM is an external drive.  It is attached to the carputer with a 15 foot cable, so it can be installed virtually anywhere, in any position.  For an additional $50, your drive can be converted into a slot loader.

The GPS receiver is about 2" x 2.5" x 1/2", about the size of a pager.  It can be mounted anywhere on your rear or front glass, or on the back of the rear view mirror.  There is no service fee, just connect it and you're ready.  The GPS Software finds your location upon startup, and automatically tracks your progress.

Rear screens can be added to your system, and hooked up to your s-video output port.  They will show the same signal as your front monitor.   Let the people behind you see your music videos!

The TV tuner goes inside the black box, and hooks up directly to your car's antenna for great reception.  It also picks up FM radio for those who can't give it up.  Favorite channels and stations can easily be stored.

Super Nintendo Controllers can also be added to your system, and hooked in to your carputer's parallel port.  They function exactly like a Super Nintendo.  An emulator and links to games will be provided. We are currently working on a PS2 emulator.

If you are keeping your head unit, it will need to have inputs, or you can use an FM Modulator. If not, then you will need an amplifier to run the audio.  A 40x4 or 50x4 amplifier is recommended.
